Wowing the big guys
an interview with editor and publisher Robin Raskin
by Kate Bernhardt

Robin Raskin is tiny, measuring only a bit more than five feet tall. But don't worry about losing her in a crowded room. This lady's a dynamo whose personality pushes the big guys into the background. Should you find her with big guys like Bill Gates, Steve Jobs, and Michael Eisner -- those titans of media and technology, whose products are in all our homes and offices -- don't be surprised if Raskin's got them spellbound. Her mission is to find out what they've got in mind for the future, and then she lets them know what they need to do to satisfy the technology needs of her constituency: families with children.
Raskin is editor-in-chief and publisher of the magazine she founded, FamilyPC. It takes only one look at the décor of her office to see that she's equal parts diplomat, advocate, sales chief, and mom. How did a former drama major come to be such an industry powerhouse? It's a surprising career story that started, rather unexpectedly, when her first child was born.
