"Each time it's completely different," says Susan Meiselas of her travels. "I literally read something and I just get this feeling that I should be there. Sometimes it's letting yourself be carried into something that's foreign-foreign in the sense that there's some mystery. Sometimes it's tied to someone wanting me to be there and a lot of times it's tied to my feeling that someone needs to be there, to be a witness." Meiselas has traveled to Nicaragua, El Salvador, Argentina, Colombia, Chile, Bolivia, and Iraq, covering wars and their aftermath.
